ImproWin® Powder – for your horse’s digestive system

ImproWin® is a Norwegian-developed complementary feed with salts of organic acids and B vitamins. The powder is a practical choice if you prefer to mix supplements into soaked feed or a mash.

Daily maintenance amount

• For a 400 kg horse: 1 level measuring scoop (20 g) daily.
• For a 500 kg horse: 1 heaped measuring scoop (25 g) daily.

Adjust the amount to your horse’s body weight and follow the label. Powder and pellets have different feeding amounts.

Mix the powder thoroughly into feed, preferably soaked feed or a mash. It can be mixed with water or oil before feeding and must not be given dry directly into the mouth.

Pack size: 1.2 kg. At 20 g daily for a 400 kg horse, the tub lasts approximately 60 days. At 25 g daily for a 500 kg horse, it lasts approximately 48 days.

Investigated in trotting racehorses

The powder formulation was investigated in a randomised, double-blind study of trotters with ulcers in the non-glandular part of the stomach. The horses were monitored by gastroscopy. The study was published in Acta Veterinaria Scandinavica in 2014.

Of 78 enrolled horses, 67 were included in the analysis. At the end of the study, 78% of the ImproWin group and 54.8% of the placebo group were classified as responders. A response meant an improvement of at least one ulcer-score grade, rather than necessarily complete healing.

There was no statistically significant difference between the groups after three weeks. The final results need to be considered alongside the study design, including treatment switching and assumptions in the final analysis. The study investigated the powder, and did not investigate skin conditions or intestinal flora.
